Who is She?
Vilda Ray is a queer Filipinx and Latinx multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Her influences extend from her diverse heritage being raised in the endless colors, waters, and sun of Guam. Focusing heavily on themes of duality, Vilda looks to expose those pieces that queer and trans people tend to stow away. Vilda has created works of graphite, ink, acrylic, charcoal and digital art highlighting queer and trans bodies and minds. Ray’s most recent work “Queer Bodies and Attachments” (2025), hosted by Painted Brain LA, was a glimpse into the emotional bonds of queer communities. Unveiled was a vulnerability in sharing anxiousness, avoidance, and security. As the work was created in honest yearning, it was shared to secure connections by practicing togetherness. Vilda continues on a journey of self-awareness that has been key in her effort to build a shameless future for queer and trans people of color.
